A sugar-coated adventure illustration I made for next month's te reo Maori Circus theatre show is touring 3 venues across Tāmaki Makaurau at Te Pou Theatre and Ellerslie Arts.
Description by Te Pou Theatre:
On a sizzling day in Tāmaki Makaurau, siblings Miro and Nikau set off on a quest to get the biggest ice creams in Aotearoa for their whanau from the legendary Te Kao Store. They set off on a magic speedy haerenga to Te Hiku o te Ika, but on their return the ice creams start to melt, and their trip home turns into an epic survival adventure. A double scoop of fun, sprinkled with aerial acrobatics, contortion, ice cream juggling, and encounters with friends from te taiao, this delightful te reo Māori circus journey blends fun, mischief, and environmental awareness. Tamariki will laugh and learn as the siblings navigate environmental challenges to find each other and get the ice cream home safely to the whānau, sharing important environmental issues through the wonders of circus.
